Re: "Harper's policies lead to boycott of Canada Day," June 27.
Like Courier columnist Fiona Hughes and her husband, I too decided to ignore Canada Day this year. My family immigrated to Canada in 1969. My parents were drawn to a country which professed to honour democratic values and universality of access (especially regarding education and health care). We were once proud of our adopted nation and would hang a large Canadian flag outside our home every July 1. For the time being, at least, that flag will fly no more.
