Re: "School board mulls mosquito devices," May 4.
I have witnessed firsthand the vandalism that occurs when groups of teenagers and young adults converge, drink and sometimes brawl. The back of the Total Education Centre on East 29th was often the site for partying and the detritus of those events was broken bottles, garbage, vomit and occasionally syringes. Given there is a daycare and a playground on that site I personally think the discomfort of a few ignorant youth is preferable to the possibility of injury to children.
There is another solution that even BCCLA president Robert Holmes may find acceptable. After the TEC started playing the CBC after hours on the outside speakers, the kids left. Turns out they don't like classical music and slow jazz either.
