To the editor:
You gotta admit Mike Howell, Vancouver's mayor makes a good case. Aside from the odd pilot-boat captain a a handful of port jobs, there really is no upside for Vancouver when you compare it to the risk borne by everyone between Vancouver and Port Renfrew at the exit of the Strait of Juan de Fuca. That oil is going off-shore and making money for other people...not us. Why not keep it in Canada and actually have a long-term self-reliant energy strategy, rather than bang our heads against the wall in 50 years and wonder why we sold off this black gold in such a hurry?
