To the editor:
Deirdre Phillips will not be alone in front of the bulldozers if the city decides to proceed with the extension of the seawall.
This council promotes green and sustainable development and is focused on making Vancouver the
greenest city in the country, yet it is considering destroying the only remaining stretch of natural beach. Are we still of the mind set that undeveloped areas are of no value?
It is interesting to note that the council's clinching argument in support of the removal of the Jericho wharf was that the shade from the wharf removed some of the beach habitat, so it had to go.
