Re: "Eastern promises," Kudos and Kvetches, June 1.
Interesting that the author of today's K&K should evoke the city of Nanaimo when speaking of the name, naming and renaming of Hastings-Sunrise. If the author really knew the Vancouver Island town well enough to earn the right to liken it to Prince George (hinterland shame?) he or she would know that Nanaimo is in fact a Salish word that means "people of many names."
Had the author known that, his or her K&K piece would have had an even sharper hook.
