Allen Garr decries that the controversial Translink ads entitled Disappearing Palestine “have been placed, and this is no coincidence, during the holiest days in the Jewish calendar: Rosh Hashanah – New Years – and Yom Kippur – the Day of Atonement”.
As a former journalism instructor and perhaps the most knowledgeable writer on civic politics in the city, Mr. Garr should know that the timing of the ads had nothing to do with the Palestine Awareness Coalition and everything to do with TransLink’s timetable. The decision to release the ads now was entirely up to TransLink.
Moreover, I am disappointed that Allen Garr is not up to his rigorous journalistic standards and has chosen to conflate criticism of Israeli government policies with anti-Semitism and anti-Israel propaganda.
