Re: "Critical Mass bullying embarrasses rider," Letters, Aug. 3.

The arrogance displayed by the self-centred cycling fringe movement behind the monthly Critical Mass celebration is only exceeded by the passive cooperation of our Dudley Do Rights in the VPD (led by Vancouver Police Chief Jim Chu).

The self-appointed ethical elite of cyclists, who inflate their egos by usurping the proper use of our roads and in the process irritating the law-abiding who are denied fair access for the intended purpose of our roadways, should be escorted by a police motorcycle cordon into a parking lot upon exiting the Art Gallery plaza.

They could be hassled legally, detained and released two or three at a time until they would lose their interest in wasting the public's patience and their own worthless time in future sil-ly and childlike protests.

Cyclists have been overindulged with city's financial resources disproportionate to their numbers for the past three years.

For the sake of peace and good government, a truly Canadian attitude, these anarchists need a physical reminder that protests require sacrifice by the activists as well as the general public they displace.
