I am surprised that Allen Garr would repeat the slanderous and false notion that the Palestine Awareness Coalition timed its transit ads as a deliberate act of malice to (almost) coincide with the beginning of the High Holidays. Surely Allen as an experienced journalist knows that things don’t happen that way, and indeed they did not. As a member of two of the seven groups comprising the PAC, I can testify that the timing was strictly up to TransLink; that we were not aware of the date until it happened; that the PAC worked for many months on coordinating pictures, text and funds; and that we expected the ads to go up later. Allen, it would have been a good idea to check with someone in PAC before publishing a lie about the project. How about another column based on a few interviews with PAC organizers?
The timing issue is, of course, only one of many falsehoods spread by the Zionist campaign against the ads. This is not the place to repeat the entire history of Israel and Palestine, but I encourage your interested readers to familiarize themselves with the abundant material available online and in libraries, or to access Independent Jewish Voices online for links.
