To the editor:

As a director working with seniors and adults with disabilities, I'm concerned about TransLink's potential plan to phase out the TaxiSaver program. It has enabled many to go out without having to plan days in advance. When they are ready to return home, the pick-up is achieved in a more timely manner. Often with HandyDART, the wait can be half an hour or more. Many people with serious, chronic illnesses do not have the stamina to wait for the HandyDART, i.e. people with advanced cardiac conditions or oncology patients.

One program does not meet the needs of all clients. TransLink needs to maintain the TaxiSaver program.
