Re: "Evolving English can be grating 'on accident,'" May 29.
I enjoyed Matthew Claxton's column on the question of whether or when incorrect usage is simply part of the evolution of language. I lean toward the conservative side in these matters, and am irritated by expressions such as the inane "I could care less," which means the opposite of what its users intend to say (that they couldn't care less).
Perhaps like Mr. Claxton I'm resistant to changes in the language, but the process is fascinating and amusing to observe in any case.
