Courier letter writer Kathryn Saniuk protests that "Nobody could have foreseen what happened after the Canucks lost." I disagree. The situation was quite similar to 1994. The difference is that as an experienced councillor with reasonable judgment, Suzanne Anton knew that, and the mayor did not. He was in charge and he must be held responsible. He was naive, he ignored history and he put everyone downtown at risk by his reckless lack of planning and his failure to use common sense and adequate policing in crowd management. The difference between the mayor and Coun. Anton is, in a word, competence. Gregor Robertson has had his chance, but he has failed. He has poor judgement and is swept along by his enthusiasms. It is time for him to go, and for someone more sensible to take his place.
