There seems to be far too much emphasis on this restaurant failure being part of a larger discussion about gentrification and the difficulties faced by businesses operating in a challenging neighbourhood in transition. It's not.

I've been to Fat Dragon many times. Nice space. A couple of great menu items and specials. But overall, I and many others I know who've tried it, find that the menu was simply not solid enough and the variations of fried rice, while certainly very good, were not just overpriced "for the neighbourhood," but overpriced for what you got, period. This is Vancouver. There are too many good places to get well done variants of Asian food for a reasonable price. Fat Dragon just needed to have a more solid menu at even a *slightly* better price point. I'll certainly miss the ribs but, really, this isn't rocket science or something to blame on larger issues.
