New York Fashion Week's Most Anticipated For FW 2014

It’s that time of the year again when we can marvel at what’s ahead in fashion as New York Fashion Week commences from February 5th-13th. As usual there’s buzz brewing for this season including designers’ move from Lincoln centre to off site shows that are shall we say “more exclusive”.  The pressure is also on for Council of Fashion and Design of America (CFDA) designers such as Joseph Altuzarra and Creatures of the Wind. With the seal of approval from industry mavens such as Anna Wintour and Diane Von Furstenberg, these designers already have a step with a lot to prove.

The move from Lincoln Centre this season has opened up new venue options for designers such as Alexander Wang who will be showing in Brooklyn Navy Yard. For new yorkers, crossing a bridge to Brooklyn is less than desirable but for Alexander Wang, they’re all making an exception. The venue is beautiful to say the least. Of course, everyone will be wondering who will be in front row for shows and which designers will be making “the statement” that will define the season.

Pre-fall collections usually give us great clues of what’s to come. An emphasis of oversize long coats and knits were prevalent in collections by Michael Kors. Prints were also dominating collections while toned down colors are incorporated.

As for street style, we’re hoping to see sighting of shearling overcoats.  Creative layering is a must while attending fashion week during a winter blitz. We can also look forward to Bill Cunningham’s street style photos in The New York Times that’s sure to inspire.

Victoria Beckham

February 10

Carolina Herrera (After her pre-fall teaser of a fabulous color blocked black and red gown, she’s left us wanting more)
