Re: “Rant/Rave”, Jan. 26, 2017
I read with interest your rants of Jan. 26-Feb. 1. Some poor woman is going to stop holding doors for others because people aren’t polite (read: grateful) enough? Nonsense. It’s important to be polite because it’s simply the right thing to do.
And, if you want to achieve an objective, be an example of the behaviour you want. Should I smoke because others do? Should I spit and curse because other people do? Should I call some poor woman a skank over some inconsequential bus change because other people do? I’m polite because I want to be polite. I enjoy helping people to have (hopefully) a slightly better day. And I try not to demean people because I understand that not everyone lives in the same world I do.
