Sidewalk safety

The impressive upswing in cycling in Vancouver, partly due to a not-so-cost-effecitve transit system, and expense of owning a vehicle (on top of costly living expenses) has brought some new challenges. The good intentions of gradually stripping away traffic lanes for bike lanes has created a bike culture that now uses sidewalks where there are no separated bike lanes. They’ve been spoiled, and it is getting out of control. Sidewalks are not safe for walking anymore.

The city would have been smarter to designate ALL single, or right side traffic lanes as bike-priority, along with appropriately lowered speed limits for most routes.

Also the impressive growth of racing bike culture has added swarms of super-quiet, expensive bikes, apparently with no bells, to our parks and streets. Vancouver, we have a problem!

Real problems

Re:  Vancouver Shakedown, July 21, 2016.

Goes to show how greedy and untrustworthy these realtors are.
The authorities need to protect people from this unethical behaviour, so this is a step in the right direction.
The question is, why did it take this long?
