Rants: Stamp out poor service, Canada Post!

Dear Canada Post: If youre going to face the new world order, your leg-up on other parcel delivery firms can be enhanced by doing something very simple: instruct your delivery personnel to actually make an attempt to deliver parcels directly.

Dear Canada Post: If youre going to face the new world order, your leg-up on other parcel delivery firms can be enhanced by doing something very simple: instruct your delivery personnel to actually make an attempt to deliver parcels directly. Four times over the past three weeks, Ive found notice cards in my mailbox, advising me that a parcel was being held for me at my local sub post office. Since Im home most of the day and since my buzzer rings to my cell phone, I know that no effort was made to deliver the parcels to my door. I asked a Canada Post employee if this was standard procedure and he said that it was at the discretion of the delivery person. WTF?! Customer service standards are at the whim of an employee?! If thats an example of how this business intends to be run, maybe its time to not only cease door-to-door delivery (which, ironically, they seem to have already done with parcels) but to simply shut down altogether and leave the service to companies that know what to do, and how to treat customers.

Canadian Guy

I dont know what it is about some paranoid people or if its my overall appearance that seems to send those same people running in fearthe moment they see me, but after years of this kind of bullshit it gets really tiring and its extremely hurtful to me as a human being. Just today I was ascending the escalator at a downtown Skytrain station where perhaps 100 or more commuters were going about during the noon hour rush and some woman grabbedher purseand switchedit from one arm to the nextand thenwalkedas far away from meas she could. Shit like this happens to me often and while I dress in clean fresh clothes, am well groomed and I use enough deoderant, toothpaste andmouthwash, soap and skin care products so thatI wontstink or have bad breathand lookcreepyI can really sympathize withotherethnic minorities, people with disabilities and Average Joes and PlainJanes who have dealt with thissame racist/bigoted bullshit for years. Do I reallyneed to wear a big sign on my chest that says, I am a respectable, law-abiding person. I wont rape you, kill you, steal your belongings,or try to sell you drugs in spite of my plus-sized, ethnic appearance?

How about a new years resolution? Takeyour noses out of the air and try and treat everyone, regardless of who they are, their ethnicity, appearance, religious affiliation, and what level of the social/economic ladder they come from, and treat them as you would wish to be treated, otherwise known as the Golden Rule. You might even make a good friend who will be there when you need him/her if you take up my challenge.
