To the editor: Re: "Here's the Lo down on cheap market housing in containers," Aug. 9. What a great idea to use something that already has a practical shape and integral strength to make homes that presumably will be affordable. Wouldn't it be great if the same type of engineering principles could be applied to help the folk who are enduring what seems to be an endless procession of hugely destructive storms and tornadoes in some parts of North America.
I'm not expecting whole towns to live in containers but they could surely be adapted to use as shelters with some adjustments to access and the use of some backhoes for a few hours. Let's at least give the kids who are in the small town schools a chance to survive some of the catastrophes of life.
