My name is Ethan. I am in grade 5 at Kerrisdale elementary. I recently saw on the news that [the Vancouver School Board] might change the school calendar. I oppose that idea. Here is my reason. As you might know Vancouver is not the warmest place in the world. Most of the year it is cold and rainy. That is why we need summer break. Summer is one of the only times in Vancouver that it is warm and it rains less. If you made us go to school in the summer we would only get the morning (too cold) and the evening (also too cold) to enjoy the fresh air. I think you should give the students a choice in the matter. After all, we are going there too.

If you do change the calendar I have some suggestions. You should install some tables- like the ones we use for lunch-outside so we can at least do our work outside.
