City taxes and Vancouver's first student school board trustee are among the stories we're working on today. These stories will both go in print for the Wednesay edition and online in the hours to come.
City hall reporter Mike Howell wades into the morass of taxation once again with an upcoming story of another tax increase for Vancouver property owners courtesy of city hall. Whether it will be in line with the rate of inflation, and whether that rate as calculated by the city is accurate, are all up for discussion in the story, as well as a debate about the city's continuing drive to be more efficient.
Education reporter Cheryl Rossi landed an interview with Vancouver's first student trustee on the school board. He can't vote, move motions or attend in camera sessions, but he hopes to have an influence anyway. Read about it soon.
Other stories we're working on for the start of the week include the bike and pedestrian pathway through Kits Beach and Hadden parks, West Fourth business owners unhappy with a city decision to remove parking from the street along their stores, the continuing legal battle between the park board and a half dozen rebel community centres and an epic high school football game on the weekend.
UPDATE: The student trustee story is now posted here.
