Putting on my consumer tech columnist hat last week, I was given a brief preview by Microsoft Canada of a few games available for the upcoming Xbox One console. The preview was held inside a giant mockup of the console in a downtown parking lot. The day before my arrival, a horde of actors dressed as zombies had emerged from the mockup as part of a promotion for the Nov. 22 launch of both the Xbox One and AAA title Dead Rising 3, produced by Capcom Vancouver.
Jason Leigh, senior producer with Capcom, game me a demo of their game after my own awkward attempts to work the controls. Noted during his demo was the game's extensive crafting sytem for weapons and vehicles, the lack of loading time between geographical areas and the sheer number of zombies coming at you on screen. The demo was too brief to give an assessment of DR3 as a game but the technical achievements and eye candy seem significant.
