Tweets didn't cause riot, Mayor Robertson did

Re: "Riot fallout continues unabated," June 24.

I have to thank Allen Garr again for crediting me with influence over the masses I can only dream of. Vision has suggested that my online exaltations (not Andrea Reimer's, nor Gregor Robertson's, mind you) "tweeted" out after Game 5 from my living room armchair to 1,700 "followers" somehow led to the Fan Zone riot. Given that Garr is not yet a member of the Twitterati, can we assume it was the mayor's office who provided him with this interesting theory?

I firmly believe that Vancouver should be the place for fun, and not the litter-strewn and urine-soaked mess that was Georgia Street after the playoff games. Unfortunately, like so many others I wrongly assumed that city officials had been given the resources they needed to make sure the mayor's playoffs party was comfortable, clean and safe.

Mike Klassen,
