Having not quite expanded his ubiquitous brand to every last corner of Vancouver, businessman/restaurant mogul/celebrity chef/food truck operator/cookbook author/packaged food purveyor/Dragon’s Den inhabitant Vikram Vij is now bringing his spicy Indian delights to the culinary connoisseurs of B.C. Place.

Last week, the Viginator revealed plans for two new food concession stands as well as a mobile food cart, giving people attending Vancouver Whitecaps FC matches, B.C. Lions games and presumably truck and tractor pull competitions four locations around the stadium to savour the subtle nuances and flavour profiles of Double V’s Creamy Chicken and Chickpeas with Cilantro, Vegetarian Navy Bean Curry with Kale and Garam Masala, and Sirloin Beef and Spinach Curry.

While it’s nice to see B.C. Place attempting to up its game, the real winners are all the foodies attending events at the cavernous sportsplex. We can just imagine what the Yelp reviews will be like:

• LionLover69: “I practically spilled my lamb vindaloo down my replica jersey when Travis Lulay eluded a tackle and ran the ball in for a touchdown. That vibrant orange hue combined with a subtle heat warmed my entire body. The vindaloo wasn’t bad either.”

• DougieStyle: “Damn, when are they gonna start offering Palak Paneer? That s*** is off the hook, yo. I needs me my Palak Paneer.”

• Vijazzled: “I must admit I was surprised to see the Mud Mangler fair so poorly in the 7,500 pound Modified Tractor class event, especially since it’s powered by three 429 Ford engines with a crowerglide clutch. But hey, thems the brakes. At least the Rajasthani style goat was absolute perfection and it paired well with the marinated lamb popsicles in fenugreek curry, which were spiced exquisitely, allowing the mango, tamarind and cardamom to shine through, much like Dirty Mary tore through that 200-metre mud bog with only a 6.1 L Cummins Triple Turbo engine, an estimated 1400 rear wheel HP, 48 RE Transmission, Dana 80 Differential and 33” Mud Terrain tires. Bravo. I’ll definitely be back.”
