Re: “ The truth about council and public hearings ,” Feb. 26. If Councillor Reimer was quoted correctly, she was being just a tad disingenuous.

As many of you know, Penny Ballem is a doctor. A hematologist, actually. And, of course, she’s Vancouver’s city manager, a $300,000-plus-a-year position she accepted way back in December 2008.

Before she became a shoe designer, she was the woman every girl could relate to on style and love. If it’s one thing Sarah Jessica Parker learned from 6 years on the set of Sex and the City, it’s shoes.

So Mayor Gregor Robertson and his council are getting a pay raise. I brought you this news back on Jan. 8. But at the time, your civic officials didn’t know how much of a bump they would receive.

To the editor: Re: “ Lifestyles of the rich and furious ,” Feb. 21. I would like to point out to Mr. Skalbania that he did not pay for [Point Grey] Road as it was already in existence before he even moved there.
