Residents of the Lower Mainland can enjoy rows of vibrant blooms at the Abbotsford Tulip Festival this spring.
Attendees can stroll through 35 acres of tulips and fields of flowers, featuring over 100 varieties of vibrant tulips at Lakeland Flower's first floral event of the season.
Depending on conditions, the Abbotsford Tulip Festival will kick off on April 5 and run until Mother's Day, May 11.
Described as the "premiere tulip festival," the annual event features food trucks on-site seven days a week and live piano performances from 6:30 to 8 p.m. on Thursdays and Fridays, from April 17 to May 11. Attendees can also have their faces painted on two Saturdays: April 26 and May 3.
The farm has introduced some new features this year, including four golden pathways, giant klompen (traditional Dutch shoes), and the schoenen winkel (Dutch shoe store).
Returning favourites include the pianos to play in the fields, canoes to sit in, swings to sway on, bicycles to pose with, and viewing platforms to observe the colourful vistas.
“Our favourite time of year is approaching and we are excited to connect with everyone again,” said Nick Warmerdam, owner of Lakeland Flowers, in a media release.
“We have some new photo opportunities along with bringing back fan favourites.”
The annual event kicks off three months of blooms with Lakeland Flowers. After the tulip fest ends, the farm will showcase peonies, lupins, meadow flowers, and lavender until July 1.
The festival is open from dawn until dusk.
Lakeland Flowers strongly recommends that visitors purchase tickets online to receive reduced pricing and to secure a time slot. Stay updated on the opening date of the Abbotsford Tulip Festival on Instagram, Facebook and TikTok.
