From a cosplay competition to a Pokémon trading card tournament, hundreds of Japanese anime fans are expected to visit a Richmond mall this weekend.
Richmond's Lansdowne Centre is hosting Anime Fest, in collaboration with Magic Chest, on Saturday, June 14 from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Sunday, June 15 from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. in celebration of anime and pop culture.
The highlights of the event are a six-foot Gundam statue for visitors to take photos with, as well as a meet and greet with Eric Stuart, the voice actor behind several Anime characters from shows Pokémon, Yu-Gi-Oh! and One Piece.
Visitors can expect more than 30 collectors and vendors showcasing iconic anime memorabilia, limited-edition Gundam model kits, entertainment, face painting and an Anime scavenger hunt.
There will also be a speed building blocks competition for kids six and older.
