Every spring, around this time, I start dreaming about fishing. Okay, that's a lie; I dream about fishing all winter and all spring, summer and fall. But it's around this time in March that it starts to almost smell like spring outside and being able to head out on a day trip up Indian Arm or up to Cat or even Buntzen Lake in Burnaby and throwing a line out without freezing my ass off becomes a very realistic possibility.
I'm sure it's not a well-kept secret amongst fishing enthusiasts but the average non-sportfishing Vancouverite might not know that the Army and Navy on Hastings actually has the most amazing selection of fishing gear in the city. Tucked into the basement you can find everything from the standard rods, reels and tackle to crab and prawn traps, down riggers, books, belly boats, and they've got a claim on selling more fishing licenses than any other retailer in Western Canada! Well priced and stocked, this is my favorite place to shop for fishing supplies in Vancouver.
