I was fortunate to catch up with Christina Maria Rieder who performs under her stage name 'Rykka' after she had just returned from recording some tracks for her new album in Toronto last year.
Born in Vancouver with Swiss heritage, she now splits her time between Vancouver and Meilen, Switzerland. Rykka just represented the European country as a contestant in the mega big 2016 Eurovision Song Contest. She made it through to the second semi-final round in Stockholm, Sweden with her song "The Last of Our Kind". It was exciting to see her performances on such huge platform see by millions of people.
Not only is she a musical talent (having won the PEAK Performance Project British Columbia in 2013 and taking home the $102,000 prize!) but she also takes the time to handcraft many of her stage outfits. I thought the look for the vest seen in the photo below the red guitar (made up of cut pieces of a foil emergency blanket) was pretty styling!
