Each month, Blim puts on a an awesome Monthly Market in Mount Pleasant filled with crafters, clothesmakers, artisans, cupcake wizards, soap makers and all sorts of other great stuff. For the past while they've been doing them at the Cambrian Hall on 17th Ave but they've outgrown the spot so as of the next market (February 21st) the market will now take place at the much larger Heritage Hall on Main Street at 15th Ave!

Every month we feature one of the vendors for the upcoming market here on V.I.A., this time we're featuring Daniel McRorie and his handmade moccasins!

Daniel McRorie is a young Metis artist, from Winnipeg, Manitoba, who is constantly looking for different mediums to create art and present his pieces in ways that are unusual and provocative. Dan’s body of work takes on many forms and includes designing and selling T-shirts at age 14, to building custom vintage cars and motorcycles, painting with water colors, acrylic or oil, home renovations, photography, orthopedic design and creation and most recently, tooled leather. Always an entrepreneur, at 24 years old, Daniel built and ran his own business called “These Boots Cobblery and Custom Leather” where he smoked, fixed shoes and consorted with the local riff raff. Now, living and working in Vancouver, Dan is pursuing many paths and is constantly inspired by the world around him! Even though he doesn’t smoke anymore.

BLIM is an independent, family-run art and craft facility located in the heart of Vancouver's DIY art spaces on Main Street that helps build community through making the arts and crafts accessible to a wide range of skill sets and aims. A resource and platform for artists, it’s also a non-funded arts facility and small business run by and for artists. Blim was recently honoured in local entertainment guides by being voted best “Low profile event space” in Vancouver Magazine, and “Best Innovative Arts Space” in the Terminal City, as well as “Best Place to Whip up some Art” in the Georgia Straight.
