Two full days of bubble tea are coming to Burnaby for all of Metro Vancouver's boba fans.
The fittingly named Canada Bubble Tea Festival will take place at Swangard Stadium on Saturday, Aug. 9 and Sunday, Aug. 10. The free festival will feature more than 10 different bubble tea brands, along with "boba hawkers" who will carry trays of the drinks around the festival grounds.
"Come sip, shop, eat, and dance at the most refreshing summer festival in town!" reads a post from the festival's social media. "Bubble tea, street food, live music, kids games, and so much more!"
The stadium will be set up with a bubble tea area, a marketplace, a food truck area, a stage for live performances, and a dance hall (dubbed "Bubble Beat Galaxy").
"From epic stage shows and outdoor movies, to this year’s first-ever Boba Hawkers roaming the crowd — 2025 will be unforgettable," reads a post from organizers.
Originally created in Taiwan in the 1980s, the beverage has become an international hit, valued at $3.1 billion in 2023 and expected to reach $5.3 billion by 2033.
