The Vancouver Mini Maker Faire returns this year, bigger and more awesome than last year. On the weekend of June 23-24 the PNE Forum will be buzzing with makers, crafters, DIY afficionados, and plenty of cool.
Wait. June? That's more than 3 months away! Can't wait that long? Then how about a small taste of what's to come?
Next Thursday March 15 it's time to Meet Your Makers at the Museum of Vancouver.
This fundraising event is an opportunity to meet with Makers who participated in Vancouver Mini Maker Faire 2011 and learn how to become a volunteer, Maker, or official sponsor for VMMF 2012. Makers include:
- The Blipitron 3000
- Rachel Ashe's Altered Books
- A Legion of Flying Monkeys
- Mighty Ugly Project (that would be VIA's own DIY maven Kim Werker!)

There will also be Arduino Draw Bots, El Wire, Hacked Kinect, and more. There will be felting demonstrations and a badge-making workshop. Find out about the Art Bike Project and the Yarnbombing team. Visuals and ambient music will be provided by flyingoctopus, plus there will be a performance by the Vancouver Experimental Theremin Orchestra.
Rounding out the evening will be door prizes, a silent auction, yummy eats (mmm. Pakoras) & drinks. Until 8 pm your ticket to the fundraiser will also get you entry to the MOV exhibits, including Neon Vancouver and Art Deco Chic, which was recently featured on VIA.
