Picking up on the popularity of drag shows and millennial nostalgia, local drag performers are putting on a School of Rock-themed show.
Taking place June 4th at the Fox Cabaret in Mount Pleasant, the School of Rock show by Sleepy Queers Productions will feature "foot-stomping
fun, big gay energy, and electric queerness," according to a press release, along with gender-diverse performers.
"Taking this message of radical, and representative rock to the Fox Cabaret stage, the upcoming bill, bursting with Vancouver talent includes performances by Dust Cwaine as Dewey, Acacia Gray as Summer, Nora Vision as Rosalie Mullins, Homo Hardware as Ned, and more," reads the release.
Along with Jack Black's antics, the film also has important themes, according to organizers, like body positivity, self-acceptance, and the love of music. The film was written by Mike White, who went on to create and write the White Lotus series, write Despicable Me 4, and compete on the Amazing Race (twice).
The show will feature live music, with the Dust Cwaine Band and Hot Dyke Party both playing (and creating a "battle of the bands" effect).
