From the annual Maritime Festival to tomato sampling, there's something for everyone in Richmond this weekend.

1. Photo exhibition

OpenRoad Toyota Richmond is hosting a photo exhibition to celebrate its 25th anniversary.

The exhibit, which features 25 wildlife, landscape and architectural photographs from award-winning photographers, is part of several free events happening at its dealerships in B.C.

Visitors are invited to vote for their top three photos, with each voter entered to win an OpenRoad 25th anniversary swag pack.

Date: Friday, Aug. 22 to Saturday, Aug. 23 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday, Aug. 24 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

2. Back-to-school fair

Jan and Jul is hosting a back-to-school fair at its Richmond showroom for families this weekend.

From rain gear and school bags to footwear, they are having a sale to prepare kids for the new school year. A kids' activity area with a bouncy castle and special giveaways will take place as well.

While the event is free to attend, registration is required by visiting Jan and Jul's website here.

3. Maritime Festival

The 22nd annual Richmond Maritime Festival is back this weekend.

Multiple heritage boats will be on display in Steveston for the two-day nautical-themed event alongside a live boat restoration, interactive activities, live music, puppet shows, food trucks and more.

The free family event will also have face painting and street-theatre picture-card shows for kids.

Date: Saturday, Aug. 23 to Sunday, Aug. 24, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Location: Britannia Shipyards National Historic Site, 5180 Westwater Dr.

4. Free sports and fitness activities

Oval Community Day is returning to the Richmond Olympic Oval this weekend with free sport, fitness and entertainment activities for all ages.

There will be obstacle courses with a 90-foot inflatable as well as skill-testing games, a basketball tournament, live entertainment and more.

Three-time Olympian Eleanor Harvey and Senior National Team member Dylan French will also be demonstrating fencing.

Date: Sunday, Aug. 24, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Location: Richmond Olympic Oval, 6111 River Rd.

5. Dragon Boat Festival

FreshCo Richmond Dragon Boat Festival returns this weekend as 80 teams face off on the shores of the Fraser River.

More than 2,000 paddlers are expected to be in Steveston for the festival, with live music and entertainment during the evening.

Visitors are invited to come and watch and cheer for their favourite team.

Date: Sunday, Aug. 24, from 9 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.
Location: Imperial Landing, 4280 Bayview St.
