This year, Public Disco is doubling down on its all-ages event at Granville Island, with a two-day free Block party on June 7 and 8, 2025.
With over 6,500 attendees taking part in 2024, organizers felt it was time to expand the event to include more programming and welcome more people.
“As our city processes recent tragic events, we’re reminded how vital it is to keep showing up—together. Public space is where we gather not only to celebrate, but to connect, reflect, and care for one another,” said Nickolas Collinet, Executive Director of Public Disco Society, in the event announcement.
On Saturday, June 7, from 2 to 10 p.m., Public Disco's Block Party will find Granville Island's Lot 55 activated with live entertainment, featuring genres spanning house, disco, and garage. On Sunday, from 2 to 9 p.m., the music will be all about Latinx music styles including salsa, dembow, guaracha, and Latin tech.
All weekend long, Public Disco's Block Party will also boast plenty to see, do, eat, and drink. The event is all-ages and fully-licensed, with food trucks and pop-up bars. On deck with eats will be spots like Los Elotes and Granville Island's own Alimentaria Mexicana along with Phillips Brewing's "Dinosaur World," with Dinosaur beer sampling and a Dinosaur bar (they'll also be pouring their non-alc brews, too).
For the family, kids can enjoy colouring and face painting. The event is accessible, with organizers ensuring all can take part and including quiet areas, wheelchair-accessible washrooms, picnic tables, and more.
“Granville Island is committed to ensuring the safety of everyone here, providing slow streets and pedestrian-only zones for our festivals as Granville Island continues to be a critically important and special place for people to gather to celebrate all of our cultures and communities," said Tom Lancaster, General Manager, Granville Island.
