This massive Vancouver film set will feature 180 background actors for new Godzilla and the Titans series

A TV production starring larger-than-life characters is slated to film scenes in Vancouver this week. 

Leveraging the success of Legendary Entertainment's Monsterverse offerings, such as the hugely popular 2021 movie Godzilla vs. Kong, filmmaker Matt Shakman will produce and direct a Godzilla and the Titans series for Apple TV+.

The new series will follow the aftermath of Godzilla's battle with the Titans that levelled San Francisco and "explore one family’s journey to uncover its buried secrets and a legacy linking them to the secret organization known as Monarch," according to Deadline.

Production company EP Hydronaut Canada Inc. will film exterior scenes at 601 Beach Cres. in Vancouver of two actors talking on Monday, July 11 from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. near the Granville Bridge. There will also be a whopping 180 background performers at the set and background vehicles. 

The art department will also finish creating a "refugee camp" that will be in the scenes. 

A small crew has been preparing the set for filming since June 22 and will return to take it down on July 12 and July 13. 

Godzilla vs. Kong reboot slated for 2023 release 

Fans who want to see the iconic duo battle again will need to wait a couple of years.

An official Godzilla vs. Kong reboot is slated for release on March 15, 2024.

Godzilla vs. Kong filmmaker Adam Wingard will direct the upcoming feature, according to Deadline. The first installment grossed a jaw-dropping $470 million around the world.
