It’s time to express your elf.
The annual holiday themed Big Elf Run returns to Vancouver for its fifth year of festive fun this Saturday, Dec. 14.
Every year hundreds of Vancouverites dressed as elves journey through Stanley Park spreading Christmas cheer along the way. Participants can choose from a 5km, 10km and 15km route around the picturesque park. The family friendly event also offers a 1km Wee Elf Run/Walk for the kids.
Starting at Lumberman's Arch, the course winds its way along trails surrounded by old oak trees before looping onto the Seawall with hallmark views of Coal Harbour and the Burrard Inlet. With few inclines and paved paths, the route offers a beautiful and stress-free run or walk that all ages and abilities can participate in.
The event is also pet and stroller friendly, but those participants must start in the last wave of the race to ensure the safety of others.
Once you finish, however, the fun really begins in the Winter Wonderland Park. Here, the post-run activities include DJs, dancing, prize giveaways, vendors and more.
The event will also have a Big Toy Drive in support of the Lower Mainland Christmas Bureau. The charity has been making Christmas extra special for kids since 1930. The LMCB distributes toys, clothes and food vouchers to over a 1000 low-income families in Vancouver during the holiday season.
Your registration to the run includes an elf toque, chip timing and a souvenir. There’s also the option of buying a ‘fun pack’ that includes an additional costume item and goodies.
Registration fees are non-refundable. If the event is cancelled or postponed, your registration fee will be converted to a virtual run.
