Each year during Peace Week in November, YMCA’s across Canada celebrate exceptional work being done to build more peaceful communities. As part of this celebration, the YMCA of Greater Vancouver awards Peace Medallions to remarkable individuals or groups taking action and inspiring others to find peaceful solutions to the challenges faced by communities.

Nominate a Peacemaker you know!

Nominees volunteer their time to create positive social change in many areas including affordable education, ending homelessness, environmental sustainability, reducing stigma of mental illness, and more.

For more info on award categories and to submit a nomination, please visit the official YMCA Power of Peace Awards website.  Deadline to submit is September 4th, 2015.

And save the date on November 19th, 2015 for the Power of Peace Awards! Happening at the Orpheum Annex, the winners will be awarded and attendees will have the privilege of hearing Dave Meslin as guest speaker. If you're not already familiar with him, check out his TED Talk (with almost 1.5 million views!) titled The Antidote to Apathy.
