The Netflix show "Virgin River" will film scenes in Metro Vancouver on Monday, June 9, 2025, in a popular Burnaby park.

A popular romantic drama on Netflix is filming scenes in Burnaby to kick off the week.

Virgin River is about a nurse practitioner, Melinda "Mel" Monroe, played by Alexandra Breckenridge, who travels to a remote area in northern California for a fresh start, leaving her life in Los Angeles behind, according to Netflix.

The show also stars Martin Henderson as Jack Sheridan, Tim Matheson as Doc, Ben Hollingsworth as Dan Brady, and Annette O'Toole as Hope McCrea.

Production company Sea to Sea Productions ULC notified residents that filming will occur in Central Park around the Upper Pond on Monday, June 9, from approximately noon until 9 p.m. The crew arrived on Sunday for filming preparations and will return on Tuesday to restore the park.

The cast and crew will film scenes of "small-town folks enjoying the park," along the upper pond, at the meadow, and north of the pond. No special effects or gunfire will be used, but a "lighting lift will be placed inside the park to control sunlight during filming," according to the notification letter.

A X/Twitter user with the handle @juliasscience shared the production company's letter to the social media platform on Sunday night.

Virgin River has filming locations across Metro Vancouver

While Virgin River takes place in northern California, all seasons were filmed in and around Metro Vancouver.

Local filming locations include Whonnock Lake in Maple Ridge, North Vancouver’s Camp Howdy and Delany’s Coffee, and New Westminster’s Bernie Legge Theatre in Queen's Park.

The production company is filming the show's seventh season in the Lower Mainland until June 26.
