Parents everywhere will nod their heads in agreement: Having a family can be a nightlife buzzkill. Now a veteran Vancouver children's entertainer and music educator has hopes to rock the family outing scene with her new concept event: an all-ages dance party.

Marnie Grey of the eponymous Music With Marnie is behind the Shindiggy Dance Party. Taking place in the evening of Nov. 16 in Vancouver, this festive family-focused get-together is all about having a blast...and making it home in time for the little ones' bedtime.

In the past, Grey says her Music With Marnie sessions kept her focused on parents and newborns. But the Shindiggy Dance Party is something she hopes will draw not just parents with wee ones in strollers and slings, but also school-aged kids and tweens.

Ticket-holders can expect to find a full-on party, complete with plant-based food from Eat the Dishes, a silent auction (with 100% proceeds going to Baby Go Round), as well as beer, wine, face-painting, and plenty for the whole family to do, including dancing. Everything wraps up by 8 p.m., too.

"I love what I do, and have loved doing it for 20 years, but I haven't been this excited about an event for a long time," explains Grey in an email to V.I.A. "I started dreaming it up about 10-15 years ago, and am so delighted to see it come to fruition."
