Tonight is Sweden's chance to shine at the Honda Celebration of Light and if you're heading down to watch the fireworks be aware of the following road closures in effect:

  • Kits Point: 6 p.m. to 11:30 p.m.
  • West End: 7 p.m. to 11:30 p.m.
  • Davie Street will be closed from Burrard St to Denman St
  • Denman Street will be closed from Beach Ave to Alberni St
  • Pacific St/Beach Ave will be closed from Burrard St to Stanley Park
  • Eastbound, Beach Ave will be closed at Davie from 10 a.m. to 11:30 p.m.

Residents will be allowed into Kits Point and the West End -- just display your local parking decal or vehicle registration with a local neighbourhood address.

Drivers are not allowed to stop on any city bridge to watch the fireworks because doing so poses a risk to their safety and impedes the flow of traffic.

A reminder that the event is alcohol-free and those watching the fireworks from their boats are encouraged to take advantage of the Park Board's free pump-out services at Burrard and Heather Civic Marinas.

The fireworks start at 10 p.m. but there is a pre-show featuring divers from the Red Bull Air Force and the Canadian Forces Snowbirds.

Catch live music at the Park Stage at Second Beach until 9 p.m.
