Vancouver-born actor Ryan Reynolds tapped "Empire Records" actor Maxwell Caulfield who plays Rex Manning to create a cocktail. The drink features his Aviation Gin brand and Blake Lively's line of non-alcoholic sparking drinks called Betty Buzz.

Happy Rex Manning Day!

Each year fans rejoice in an unofficial celebration of the 1995 cult classic Empire Records. The holiday falls on April 8 which is the date the film is set on.

While the day is named after the movie's pompous pop star, Rex Manning, the date honours the death of Kurt Cobain who was found dead on April 8 a year before the film was released.

Yet, what many fans recall of the now-iconic tale of an independent record store is the heavily tanned "Oh Rexy, you're so sexy" Manning, played by Maxwell Caulfield.

The Empire Records actor is also beloved by Vancouver's Ryan Reynolds.

In celebration of Rex Manning Day, the Deadpool star teamed up with Caulfield and Blake Lively to create a "Cult Classic" cocktail.

"Everything I know about musicals I learned from Maxwell Caulfield," writes Reynolds on social media alongside a video of "Aviation Gin guru" Caulfield crafting the concoction.

Caulfield is accompanied by two identically-dressed associates, who he insists are not part of a cult.

The cocktail consists of lime juice, Reynolds' liquor brand Aviation Gin, a few dashes of red aromatic bitters, and Lively's own line of non-alcoholic sparkling drinks called Betty Buzz. The drink is topped off with an orange slice.
