With 22,376 artists, boasting 99,212 tracks, the CBC Radio 3 web site is the absolute ultimate authority, and the home, of independent music in Canada. With that massive library along with tools for members (free to join!), we’re taking advantage of what they’ve set up by bringing you a fresh batch of music every week featuring local groups who have tracks (entire albums, even!) on the R3 site.
Vancouver's David Newberry is currently out on tour in Canada, but was kind enough to send us a playlist, his Vancouver show dates (Cafe Deux Soliel on Oct 12 as a part of Primrose and at Raw Canvas on Oct 14...) and this bit about how he see's the music scene in YVR:
"The scene I have experienced in Vancouver has gone a big distance, for me anyhow, in undermining the artist-as-diva myth that prevails in popular culture.
