The Art of Taboo at CreativeMornings/Vancouver

CreativeMornings/Vancouver is excited to introduce Julia Taffe as our next speaker for March on the theme of Taboo.

CreativeMornings/Vancouver is excited to introduce Julia Taffe as our next speaker for March on the theme of Taboo. The founding artistic director of Aeriosa, a Vancouver-based vertical dance company, Julia has choreographed over 25 works on location including Stawamus Chief Mountain in Squamish, Taipei City Hall, Cirque du Soleil headquarters, Vancouver Library Square, Banff Center, Scotiabank Dance Centre, and Toronto’s 58-storey L Tower. The CreativeMornings/Vancouver community could not ask for a better speaker than Julia on the theme of Taboo.

Professionally trained at the School of Winnipeg Contemporary Dancers, Royal Winnipeg Ballet, and the Toronto Dance Theatre, Julia performed across Canada with Ruth Cansfield, and internationally with Bandaloop. Burnt out, Julia retired from the dance world to immerse herself in nature as a mountain guide. After a near-death tumble off a rock ledge, Julia received the wake-up call she needed and returned to her first love: dance. She found vertical dance, a practice that provides her with intriguing opportunities for staging performances and shifting perspectives in dance.
