In 1989 the province of British Columbia launched the Order of BC in order to "recognize those persons who have served with the greatest distinction and excelled in any field of endeavour benefiting the people of the Province or elsewhere". It's the highest form of recognition the Province can extend to its citizens and since its introduction 370 excellent British Columbians have been appointed it. I was thrilled this week to learn that Bob Rennie, whom I wrote about as being one of the kindest humans I've ever met in my recent 500 Coffees FEATURE on him, was named to the order for 2014. Not only does he get the recognition he deserves as one of BC's champions of philanthropy, the arts and being the "undisputed leader of British Columbia’s real estate community", he also gets one of these sweet medals pictured below as well as being able to "O.B.C." after his name.
