The UBC Botanical garden that Roger showed us earlier this week is having a plant sale! All of the funds generated from it will support research and educational activities at UBC Botanical Garden and Centre for Plant Research. Here's the official word:
Calling all gardeners, new and expert! Looking for hard-to-find plants? Seeking quality stalwarts that will launch a new garden successfully? Searching for “just the right” plant to fit that garden trouble spot? The annual Perennial Plant Sale at UBC Botanical Garden has what you are looking for.
Featuring a wide selection of plants propagated by the Friends of the Garden, the sale is a popular gardening event in the Lower Mainland. Gardeners expanding, changing or beginning their gardens always face site-specific challenges. Acidic soil? Shade? South-facing? No problem - the myriad of perennials available mean something that will work for your garden can be found at the sale.
Small shrubs, grasses, “favourite” perennials, native plants and limited quantities of unusual plants complement the array of perennials available.
Gardening experts will be on hand to answer your questions. Need some extra help after the sale? Ask questions online on the UBC Botanical Garden Forums, and receive answers from the same volunteers who propagate and care for the plants!
To interest young gardeners, a Children's Corner will host fun and games for the kids.
Please note that admission to the garden is by donation on the day of the sale. Greenheart Canopy Walkway admission rates will be discounted 25% for the following categories: Adult, Youth, Child and Senior.
