If you were to create a Venn diagram where one circle was labeled "cheap" and the other labeled "awesome", the middle point where they cross over could be labeled "Vancouver on the Cheap". In other words, this is a weekly series on things to do and places to go in Vancouver that fall into that magical category of being both cheap and awesome. |
This week we've got two great deals coming our way! The first is the Victory Square Block Party. For 10 years now CiTR and Music Waste have hosted a day-long free music festival at Victory Square downtown. Why do they do this? According to Sarah Cordingley, Music Director at CiTR, the goal is to "support awesome community-based organizations and great new music coming out of Vancouver." This year's party will feature The Shilohs, Deadsoft, Supermoon, and more!
Up next is Bard on the Beach's costume sale. If you've ever seen a show at Bard on the Beach, or even just photos from their shows, you know that those costumes are incredible. While they probably aren't selling their Queen Elizabeth costume, you better believe there will be some stunners there, plus fabric if you're feeling like sewing your own Shakespearean garb. Everything is priced between $5-25, so check them out.
