Get the ho-ho-holiday season started with some family fun at the 16th annual TELUS presents the Vancouver Santa Claus Parade, which features more than 40 marching bands, choirs, festive floats and community groups.

The jolly parade kicks off at noon; the 1.8 kilometre route begins at Georgia and Broughton, travels east on Georgia to Howe, turns south on Howe, and finishes at Howe and Davie.

2,500 participants will fill the streets, as an anticipated 300,000 spectators look on.

The festivities actually begin before the music and marching at the Fairmont Hotel Vancouver with Breakfast with Santa. The 8:30-10:30 a.m. buffet breakfast includes a meet-and-greet with the big man in red himself, before he heads out to preside over the parade. The breakfast is $59 per adult, $35 per child (12 and under), and reservations can be made by calling 604-647-0517.

There's also two hours of free family activities from 10 a.m.-noon at Christmas Square in front of the Vancouver Art Gallery. Then, of course, it's time for the parade!

After the parade, families can head to TELUS Garden at 510 W. Georgia St. for free photos with Santa from 2-4 p.m.
