The Downtown Victoria Business Association’s $500,000 lights extravaganza, Lights of Wonder, opened at Centennial Square at 4 p.m. on Friday.

It features glowing likenesses of trees, orcas, the legislature and the Gate of Harmonious Interest, plus interactive light tunnels.

Lights of Wonder continues to Jan. 4. It will be open Fridays and Saturdays, from 4 to 10 p.m. and Sundays to Thursdays, 4 to 9 p.m. Admission is free.

Vendors and performers will be part of the action Thursdays through Sundays during the event. Visitors will be invited to stop by the Giving Booth to make donations to local charities.
