If you missed out on the last CreativeMornings/Vancouver event featuring Gordon then here's your chance to catch up.

Gordon Price

July's CreativeMornings's global theme was 'URBANISM' and Vancouver was pleased to welcome former politician, urbanist, writer, and educator Gordon Price to talk about the intersection of creativity and urbanism, the impact each has on the other at this sold out event, and how limitations bolster creativity in the urban space.

We're very grateful for our presenting support partner Nature's Path, a privately owned, family-run, certified organic manufacturer of breakfast cereals, granolas, hot oatmeal, waffles, toaster pastries and snack bars, and North America's largest organic cereal brand with products sold in 42 countries around the world. Thanks also to our sustaining sponsors The Province of BC, GDC/BC, Dodson Conference Centre, Ethical Bean Coffee, and Fusion Cine.

Gordon Price serves as the Director of the City Program at Simon Fraser University, where he teaches others how to understand the city and the role citizens can play in shaping its future. Previously he was a City Councillor for six terms as well as a board member of both GVRD as well as the Transportation Authority (now known as Translink). He also writes, teaches and consults on urban development and planning, and has spoken at numerous conferences around the world on the subject of civic issues.

A few notable comments (paraphrased) by Gordon Price:

"Limitations and constraints provoke ans inspire creativity"

"Catastrophe is often creativity's moment. You can do things that were previously unheard of, undoable or unwanted."

"Biggest issue in our future? The elimination of the Agricultural Land Reserve by the Prov of BC."

"Relax, Vancouver. You can handle another bike lane."

"Limitations bolster creativity in the urban space."

"When we tear down the viaducts, save a little piece of it...as a reminder of how we did things before."
