Vancouver gelato shop Bella Gelateria has recently revealed it is opening an outpost inside Metropolis at Metrotown in Burnaby.

Bella Gelateria will be on the first floor of the mall, in the vicinity of retailers like Lush, Lids, and Coach. They will be situated around the corner from Tsujiri, the ice cream and treat cafe specializing in matcha; Tsujiri took over the space vacated by irreverant Toronto ice cream brand Sweet Jesus, which lasted less than a year.

Known for their gelato and sorbetto by the cup or cone, Bella Gelateria is also a popular annual entrant in the city's Hot Chocolate Festival at the start of each year. They also serve Lavazza espresso beverages, and items like waffles topped with gelato, and affogatos (espresso on gelato).

The brand, and their award-winning house-made authentic Italian gelato, launched about a decade ago in Vancouver, however in 2017, the business was re-structured and the co-founder and gelato master bought out. Their flagship location, at 1001 West Cordova Street at the base of the Fairmont Pacific Rim building, has remained in operation, though their Yaletown restaurant and scoop shop changed hands, and a planned location in Olympic Village never got off the ground.

Last summer, Bella Gelateria was reportedly in the process of setting up a second location on Davie Street in a former Tim Hortons in Vancouver's West End. Additionally, last summer they operated at the Richmond Night Market. The gelateria also has a cart they have set up at events.

Bella Gelateria's Metrotown location, then, would be the company's second, once they are up and running.
