Vancouver's award-winning Ramen Danbo has fans of the Japanese noodle soup abuzz with its recent revelation the restaurant will soon have a third location.
Ramen Danbo is set to open this year at 2277 W 41st Ave in Kerrisdale.
The new outpost of the popular ramen joint is replacing Sofra Mediterranean Kitchen, which had been there for about a decade.
The first Danbo ramen restaurant opened in Japan just over 20 years ago, however the chain's first locations outside of its home country were the two Vancouver locations - the first of which, at 1833 West 4th Ave in Kitsilano, opened in spring 2015. The restaurant was immediately acclaimed for its ramen, and consistently draws line-ups for seats, as does its second branch on Robson Street.
Danbo is known for its Fukuoka-style tonkotsu (pork broth) ramen crafted in the Kyushu Hakata style, served with thin noodles, however, the restaurant has earned widespread praise for its plant-based ramen, catching the attention of activist group PETA for its vegan offering.
No date has been set yet for the launch of Ramen Danbo's third location; signage outside the Kerrisdale restaurant indicates "opening soon."
